The idea for SwitchIt came about last year when I was travelling through Patagonia in Argentina. The town of El Bolson makes a big deal about being situated on the 42ยบ Latitude South and it struck me that I didn't know what was on the corresponding Latitude North. Now we all have a way of finding out.
All the data I'm using is public domain. I have around 31000 cities in the database and I make no claim of 100% accuracy - every time I see an obvious error I clean it up.
